About Maria
Hi, I’m Maria Caligagan! My dance career started at the Boston School of Ballet. At just 18 years old I took the leap and moved to New York City to chase my dreams. To make ends meet I modeled wedding dresses as my day job. I finally got my big break and landed a role in Jerome Robbin’s Broadway. I then moved to San Diego to raise my 4 kids and have spent 27 years in the Theatre & Dance Department at UCSD. I specialize in all Latin dances such as salsa, cha cha, and bachata. I also often choreograph waltz, Tango, and swing depending on what musical genre you choose.
My approach to choreographing is to tailor it to each unique couple. Whether you have never danced a step in your life, or you are a seasoned professional, I will create your wedding dance to be a special and memorable moment you will never forget.
